How does BugHerd help report bugs?
A bug report is simply a way to say that software isn’t working the way it should, and what to do to fix it. BugHerd helps report bugs by capturing information that is required to fix a bug, such as the URL of the page the bug is on, a screen snapshot of the bug, operating system and browser information, screen resolution, and the selector code.
Does BugHerd include screenshots?
Yes, BugHerd snaps a screenshot of each bug as you report it. This helps whoever is fixing the bug to know exactly where the bug is and what is happening.
What technical information does BugHerd capture?
In addition to a screenshot, BugHerd captures which operating system and browser the reporter is using. BugHerd also captures screen resolution, making it easy to see if the issue is desktop or mobile based. Bugherd also captures the page URL of the bug and selector information, making it easy to pinpoint bugs.
Do I need to install anything?
There’s two ways to set BugHerd up to get feedback on a website. You can embed a JavaScript snippet into the “head” of your website or you can install a browser extension to your preferred browser.
How is the feedback pinned to the website?
BugHerd pins the feedback to the individual element on your website. So if you rearrange the elements on a page, the feedback stays with it.
Where is the feedback sent?
BugHerd turns the feedback provided into tasks on a kanban style Task Board. Using the Task Board, you can sort, assign and track tasks to completion.
How to track bugs in websites
1. Sign up for a BugHerd account;
2. Create a BugHerd 'project' for the website that you wish to track bugs and receive feedback for;
3. Install the BugHerd extension or add your project's Javascript snippet to your website;
4. Invite your team and/or client(s) to your project to start giving feedback on your website.
Can I integrate BugHerd with existing tools?
BugHerd integrates natively with Slack, GitHub and Wordpress. Using Zapier or Integromat, you can integrate BugHerd with thousands of other tools, including Jira, Asana, Trello and many other project management tools.
What’s a project?
BugHerd uses the term project to describe a piece of work you need to do. You can define how big or small a project can be. So you can create a project for a complete website build, a landing page, or a new online learning course. You can set up a project for each client you work with, or for each stage of a project. BugHerd has no limits on the number of projects you can create providing you with flexibility to divide your work up as you prefer.
